Rosseti Centre stopped the operation of a mining farm in the Bryansk region

4 May 2026

Specialists of the security service from the branch of Rosseti Centre - Bryanskenergo, together with employees of BryanskElektro LLC (part of the Rosseti Group), discovered an illegal connection of a mining farm to the power grid in the urban-type settlement of Dubrovka. The illegal consumption amounted to almost 226,000 kWh, with damages exceeding RUB 2.6 million.

The cryptocurrency mining facility was located in an abandoned building on the outskirts of the settlement and was consuming electricity without metering. The violation was discovered during an inspection of facilities with high levels of energy losses. During the investigation, 42 units of mining equipment were seized. A report on the unmetered consumption of electricity was drawn up on the spot.

The materials have been submitted to law enforcement agencies. A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The article carries penalties of up to five years in prison and a fine. Violators are also required to pay full compensation for damages, which significantly exceed the cost of legally consumed electricity.

“We systematically identify and prevent cases of illegal mining. This is not only a matter of economic losses but also of grid reliability. Such actions create additional burdens on infrastructure and violate the rights of bona fide consumers. Our goal is to ensure transparent and equal conditions for everyone and guarantee a stable electricity supply,” noted Boris Ebzeev, General Director of Rosseti Centre, PJSC - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga region, PJSC.
