December 11, 1962 District Energy Agency «Lipetskenergo» was created. The structure of DEA «Lipetskenergo» included Yeletsky CHP, Electricity Networks, Heat Networks and Energosbyt. December 12, 1964 pursuant to the order of the State Production Committee for Power and Electrification of the USSR for the purpose of improvement of operation of power grid facilities and strong performance of activities for rural electrification Lipetsk, Yelets and Lebedyansky Electrical Networks were organized as part of DEA «Lipetskenergo» on business principles. This date is considered to be the day of Lipetskenergo incorporation.

Open Joint Stock Company for Power and Electrification «Lipetskenergo» was established on December 22, 1992. By 1996 it merged together ten companies: 3 power plants (capacity over 550 MW) — Lipetsk — CHP-2, Yeletsky CHP and Dankovskiy CHP; three electric networks companies (Lipetsk, Yelets and Lebedyansky electric networks), which operated more than five thousand kilometres of 35-220 kV transmission power lines; «Lipetskenergoremont», Heating Networks, «Elektrosetstroy» and TG OJSC «Lipetskenergo».

In 2002 the Board of Directors of RAO «UES of Russia» approved the Reform Project of OJSC «Lipetskenergo». As a result of its execution on March 31, 2008 OJSC «Lipetskenergo» merged Open Joint Stock Company «Interregional Distribution Grid Company of Centre» as a branch.

Numerous awards and letters of appreciation testify that Lipetsk power engineers of IDGC Centre fully perform their task of ensuring the quality of electricity supply and grid connection of customers to the networks of the division.
